UGANDA – Karamoja – A largely untouched region of northern Uganda/South Sudan – A timid man followed me around the village for half the day, watching my every move. Finally, he approached me and asked if I would pray for his mother who is ill. Of course I said yes. He lived in a hut quite a distance away, so we ran, as it was getting dark.
His mother was laying outside the hut on her stomach. She said she had been on her stomach almost continually for three months because it’s the only position where she is not in excruciating pain. She told me that she met Jesus as a young girl, but she ignored Him after that. She thought He forgot about her. He hadn’t.
The picture above was taken by her son who had the camera. I love this picture because it’s the moment that she gave her heart to the Lord. The kids in the background are her grandkids. I had just enough money on me to get her to a doctor (about a day’s journey) so she could receive treatment. These are those times when you know that God has you in the exact spot He wants you to be in.
